HMRC are making tax digital (MTD)
If you are self-employed or a landlord and earn £50k or more per year, you will need to file your taxes quarterly and online beginning April 2026. Abacus Partnership can help you prepare.
Filing online
HMRC will require those who are self-employed or landlords to file online with compliant software such as QuickBooks, Free Agent, or Xero.
Keeping records
If you are self-employed, or a landlord, you will be required to file online and keep digital records up-to-date all year long.
Reporting
Additionally, if you qualify, you will need to submit income and expenses quarterly and also continue to file year-end returns.
